I went a different route. I drive for efficiency and don't care about fast cornering. 
I've always felt that the Bolt EV's wheel and tire sizes were much bigger than necessary. 
I sold my Cruze Eco wheels and replaced those massive 17" wheels with 15x6" Sonic alloys. 
I want a smoother ride as well, and the additional 2" of flexible sidewall provide that. 
The original 215/50R17's Michelin Energy-Savers are 8.1" wide. 
The tread contact patch on the new 165/80R15's are a much more aerodynamic 4.5" wide. 
Think BMW i3 wide. They are also the same diameter as the original tires, at 25.5" tall.
